I started painting newspapers (first 5 images) in the 1990's. After having tacked arches paper panels to my studio wall for 10 years and typically painting on 3 to 5 paintings at once- sometime together like triptychs and more often taking advantage of whatever my mood was to either start or work on detail or just render chaos to them appropriately. So painted newspapers seemed natural. The commentary was already there and much of the imagery was simply a reaction to what was on the printed page.
The tunnel beyond (bottom right) is a recent multi media drawing. This is a study for a multi media project currently in the works
